CANADA FUNDS TERRORISM
Canada is feeding and fueling the organization responsible for propagating the worst Jew hatred in the world-the United Nations Relief and Works Agency – UNRWA. Through its schools and camps, UNRWA trains hundreds of thousands of Arab children to want to kill Jews. In their Hamas organized summer camps they are taught how to kill Jews.
Elham Mansour is a teacher in an UNRWA school in Lebanon. He wrote last month of his belief that anyone who does not make killing a Zionist their life’s mission does not deserve to live. “By Allah,” he wrote,” anyone who can kill and slaughter any Zionist and Israeli criminal and doesn’t do so, doesn’t deserve to live. Kill them and pursue them everywhere, they are the greatest enemy…All Israel deserves is death.” (Honest Reporting, June 28, 2022)
This is just one of many documented examples of Jew hatred expressed by teachers employed by UNRWA, six of whom have been suspended by UNRWA following release of a report issued by UN Watch documenting their horrendous bigotry and support for terror. The Bedein Center for Near East Policy Research has provided video footage of the training of children in Gaza to kill. What more does Canada and the other funders need to see?
Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan said, “Not only has UNRWA not properly addressed the manifestations of antisemitism among its employees, but now we see that the phenomenon is only expanding and that more workers are openly calling for the murder of Jews while the UN and the organization are doing nothing. Can this agency fall any lower?”
Canada is the tenth largest funder. In 2020 Canada announced funding of up to $90 million over three years for UNRWA. From 2016 through 2019, Canada committed a total of 110 million. This is in addition to funding provided directly to the Palestinian Authority (PA) for health services. The PA approves all the texts used in UNRWA schools.
In 2010, the Harper government cut all funding to UNRWA because of its close ties with the Palestinian terror group, Hamas.
UNRWA has been accused of hiring known militants, perpetuating Palestinian dependency, demonizing Israel and funneling money from the Western governments to line the pockets of the PA and purchase arms for terrorists.
Canadian media, like the majority of mainstream Western media, ignores all this and instead, publishes stories about the whining, petulant head of UNRWA, Philippe Lazzarini, who is currently begging for even more money from Western donor countries so he can continue to pay the antisemitic staff and purchase hate-oriented teaching materials.
The real function of this agency was to eliminate the refugee status of Arabs living in the former Mandate for Palestine and help them settle as normal citizens. This has never been addressed by UNRWA or dealt with by the media.
There has been no legitimate reason for UNRWA to exist for the past 60 plus years. The UNHCR, serves all other refugees, and enables them to move forward in their lives and seek settlement as citizens in welcoming countries like Canada.
UNRWA does nothing of the kind. It perpetuates the false notion that the generation of Arabs who left Israel in 1948 when it declared independence, are still “refugees,” as are all their multi-generational descendants, when clearly, they are not. The more than 800,000 Jews ejected from Arab countries at that time, unaided by the UN, never considered themselves refugees but citizens of the various countries to which they migrated.
Since Arabs from what is now Israel, have lived now for several generations in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan , Egypt, Kuwait, and other Arab countries, it is the responsibility of these countries to offer citizenship and integrate their brothers, sisters, cousins and fellow Arabs into their respective countries. The Palestinian Authority also maintains refugee camps. None of these countries offer citizenship. The Arabs who remained in Israel or the disputed territories are certainly not refugees.
By continuing to fund UNRWA, Canada and other Western nations are worsening Jewish and Arab lives. They are perpetuating the recruitment and training of terrorists, ensuring Arab and Jewish children are the victims of terror, collaborating with a terror supporting agency and ensuring no future peace for either Arabs or Jews. By flooding UNRWA with money, the Israelis are prevented from having peace, security and an end to terrorism.
On moral and legal grounds, Canada must withhold funding from UNRWA.
